A recurring challenge / An optional practice

The same moment. A little more choice.

Look at one recurring situation without turning it into a verdict about yourself or someone else.

An invitation to try

“What happens just before we get here?”

Start with one scene, not “always.”

Choose a recent moment you can describe. Where were you? What was happening? What did you notice, say, or do? You can leave out names and identifying details.

“We argued about leaving on time this morning” leaves more room to explore than “We are terrible at mornings.” It does not make anyone’s experience less real.

Separate what you saw from what you assumed.

What do you know from the moment itself? What are you guessing about another person’s intentions? Is there a question you could ask, at a calmer time, to understand their view?

You are not responsible for producing an explanation for everyone. “I don’t know yet” is a useful place to pause.

Choose one small experiment.

It might be making an unwritten expectation visible, asking for help earlier, changing the timing, taking a break, or naming a limit. Choose something you can try—not a promise that somebody else will change.

On paper, if useful

Next time I notice [the moment], I might [one action within my choice].

Examples are possibilities, not instructions. Some situations need practical change or outside support, not more reflection.

Return with curiosity.

What actually happened? Did the experiment help? What did the other person say mattered? What would you keep, change, or stop trying?

A result you did not want is information, not proof you failed at being a person. Resting, asking for support, and deciding not to repeat an experiment are available next steps too.

If you want to keep going

Begin with your own words.

The optional reflection brings together what you write. It does not send it to a coach or save it to an account.
